Getting from Toulouse to Carcassonne
The airport shuttle leaves the airport every 20 minutes and takes approximately 25 minutes to arrive at Toulouse Matabiau SNCF station. You can buy your SNCF train ticket to Alet les Bain in advance. You will have to change at Carcassonne.
Getting to Quillan from Carcassonne SNCF
Quillan is on the Carcassonne branch line and is about 1 hour south of Carcassonne.
When you arrive in Carcassonne your connection will be a train or a bus according to the timetable. Both routes are beautiful. If you are scheduled to take the bus walk to the end of platform 1 outside the ticket hall. You will pass the lavatories on your left and then turn left. You will see a parking lot from where the bus collects passengers. This bus's final destination is Quillan. If you buy tickets on the bus they are 1 Euros per person. Quillan SNCF station to the Hôtel la Chaumière, Quillan
It is a two or three minute walk from the SNCF car park to the hotel. Walk out of the station and turn left.
Continue until the next crossroads. There is a zebra crossing here and if you cross here you will be directly in front of the hotel.

Quillan is on the same Carcassonne branch line and is about I hour south of Carcassonne. This part of the journey, when tickets are not bought in advance cost a mere 1 Euros per journey. There are a number of trains a day but often SNCF replace the train with the coach. The coach (coach is car in French) leaves from a park next to the tracks which is easily located.
